Score more points than your opponent by capturing their stones and surrounding territory — on a 3D cubic grid instead of a flat board.
Black goes first. Players take turns tapping an empty intersection to place a stone. Press Pass to skip your turn.
Each stone has up to 6 neighbours (left, right, up, down, forward, back). A stone or connected group is captured when all its neighbours are occupied by the opponent — it has no liberties left.
You cannot place a stone that returns the board to exactly its previous state. This prevents infinite loops.
The game ends when both players Pass consecutively. The player with the higher score wins.
Captures — stones you have taken.
Territory — empty intersections completely surrounded by your colour.
Komi — White gets a bonus to compensate for Black moving first. It scales with board size and is applied automatically.
A score card appears in the top-right corner showing captures, territory, komi, and the final result. The board stays visible with territory painted in colour — Blue/amber (light theme) or blue/grey (dark theme) — so you can see exactly who owned what.
Tap Hide territory to toggle the markers on or off.
In offline games tap New game to start fresh.
In online games tap Rematch to challenge your opponent again (they can accept or decline), or Leave game to exit.
Tap / click — place a stone.
Drag — rotate the board.
Scroll / pinch — zoom in and out.
Layer buttons (L1 – L11) — show or hide individual layers to see inside the cube.
Undo — take back the last move (both players must agree in online games).
PvP — two players on the same device.
PvC — you play Black, the computer plays White.
CvC — watch the computer play itself.
🌐 Online — play against a friend on another device.
In PvC and CvC modes you can choose how strong the computer plays:
Easy — plays randomly quite often, very beatable for beginners.
Medium — balanced default, thinks a few moves ahead.
Hard — searches deeper and picks the best move it finds, no randomness.

Tap ⬇ Install in ⚙️ Settings (or the install banner at the bottom of the screen) to add Go 3D to your home screen or desktop. Once installed, you can play single-player modes (PvP, PvC, CvC) offline — no internet needed. Online games still require a connection.
